The verse emphasizes that ultimate success isn’t about gaining the whole world. Rather, it’s also about securing eternal life through obedience to the Lord God.

It talks about the parable of the talents. It teaches us about faithfulness and obedience. The servants who invested their God-given potential were rewarded. The person who buried his talent out of fear lost everything.

Successful living, in this parable, means that we need to use our abilities in ways that align with God’s law.

Prosperity in God’s Kingdom

God indeed blesses His people with spiritual riches and material wealth. However, we must remember that the blessing of the Lord isn’t always financial.

6.) Psalm 1:1-3

It describes what a successful man must be in the law of the Lord:

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.”

Prosperity in this verse is about righteousness and faithfulness to God. If you meditate on God’s word, you’re compared to trees by streams of water. It means that you receive constant nourishment and true success in God’s eyes.

Seek God First to Be Successful – Success in the Bible

7.) Matthew 6:33

It states that you must seek first the Kingdom of God.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

This verse teaches us that success does come when we prioritize God. When we first seek the kingdom of God, He’ll provide for our needs. He ensures that we have success not just in material aspects of life but also spiritually.

As mentioned, we must always trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, instead of our own understanding. If you align with God’s purpose, you’ll experience real success. That is, when you allow Him to lead your life and not chase after worldly wealth, you’ll be successful.

8.) Psalm 37:4

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

This verse shows that when you align your desires with God’s law, you experience true prosperity. Success isn’t about selfish ambition but also fulfilling God’s will and bringing glory to the Lord of Hosts.

Hard Work and Diligence – What Does the Bible Say

9.) Proverbs 10:4

“A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.”

The verse talks about how diligent hands bring wealth. It highlights the importance of diligence as lazy people who engage in mere talk, instead of action, won’t prosper. If you work diligently, though, you’ll experience successful living.

10.) Colossians 3:23-24

colossians

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

The verse encourages us to work as if for the Lord. It teaches us that good works must be done for the Lord and not for human recognition. When you work with integrity, you’ll receive good measure and true riches from God.

11.) Proverbs 14:23

“In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.”

This verse warns us that laziness isn’t a good thing. Rather, we need to have diligent hands as they can lead to great things. If you avoid hard work, you’ll surely struggle.

That’s why successful living requires commitment and perseverance.

Wisdom for Success

Wisdom is an important quality to achieve success in life. It’s not just about being intelligent. Rather, it’s about making the right decisions according to God’s word.

As mentioned earlier, true prosperity comes when you seek God’s purpose. And make sure to apply His wisdom in every aspect of your life.

12.) James 1:5

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

This verse teaches us that wisdom is a gift from God. Most of us would choose worldly wealth. Unfortunately, we do without wisdom. Even if you’re the richest person on earth, you can still make foolish decisions that can lead to destruction.

King Solomon, for instance, was known for his wisdom. He understood that true riches start with the fear of the Lord and we depend on His guidance.

When we seek wisdom through prayer, it aligns us with God’s plans. It also ensures that we make choices that lead to real success, instead of fleeting material wealth.

13.) Proverbs 16:3

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”

Hard work is required to be successful. However, personal success will only last when you seek God’s will. When you commit your endeavor to the Lord Christ, He blesses them with success.

This verse also teaches us that if we only align our goals with God’s purpose, our labor will not be in vain.

Most often, we rely on our own understanding. But if we surrender our ambitions to God, we’ll experience the blessing of the Lord in both small and great things.

14.) Ecclesiastes 9:10

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”

This verse emphasizes excellence and diligence. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in business, ministry, or daily tasks. The most important thing is to put forth your best efforts. You should know that your time on earth is limited.

Success isn’t just about making much money. Instead, it’s also about glorifying the Lord through good works.

If you approach your life with enthusiasm and discipline, you can position yourself for business success, spiritual growth, and real success in the sight of God.

God’s Favor and Blessings

Successful living can be reached with God’s favor and blessings. When you align with His law and just trust Him, you can experience true prosperity, not just in material terms but in spiritual well-being and eternal life.

15.) Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

This is one of the most powerful verses about God’s plans for His people. Many of us struggle with fear and uncertainty. We sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find real success.

However, God reassures us that He has already prepared great things for all of us.

True success isn’t about gaining the whole world. Rather, it’s about walking in God’s will and trusting Him that He’ll lead us into a prosperous future.

16.) Deuteronomy 8:18

“You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

This verse reminds us that the Lord gave us material wealth as a good gift and not to be worshipped. However, we chase after business success. We’re so focused on it that we forget to honor the Almighty God.

Thus, this verse cautions us. We have to remind ourselves that God gives us the ability to earn. When we acknowledge Him, we experience a good measure of blessings.

17.) Proverbs 10:22

“The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”

This verse emphasizes that prosperity comes from God and not our human effort. Unfortunately, we chase after worldly wealth. But we always end up burdened with stress, dissatisfaction, and fear.

Instead of chasing this type of wealth, we should be thankful for the blessing of the Lord, who provides us with real success and not sorrow.

The passage also teaches us that living successfully isn’t about chasing riches for selfish reasons. Rather, it’s about recognizing that each good gift comes from the Lord.

If we seek His steadfast love and remain faithful to Him, then we’ll experience true riches. It means both materially and spiritually.

Overcoming Obstacles to Success

Challenges are necessary to achieve ultimate success. Thankfully, the Bible provides wisdom for us to overcome obstacles and remain steadfast in our faith.

18.) Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We face trials. This verse reminds us that God is always with us. Fear and doubt can stop us from achieving real success. However, if we only rely on the righteous right hand of God, we can easily overcome these challenges.

19.) Romans 8:28

setbacks

“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

This passage encourages us to move forward because setbacks are part of God’s plan. The work of our hands may not always be the one we expected. However, if we remain faithful to Him, then we’ll see that even struggles are just stepping stones to real success.

20.) Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

This verse reminds us that God gave us limitless potential. We can always rely on His strength to lead us to victory, whether we’re facing financial hardship, career challenges, or spiritual trials.

Contentment, Real Prosperity, and Trusting in His Timing

21.) 1 Timothy 6:6-10

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

This is a powerful verse that highlights that prosperity can also be found in godliness with contentment and not in material possessions. Most of us chase only after our personal success. We believe that wealth can bring us happiness. But God has warned us that greed can ruin our potential for success.

The love of money can lead us away from His purpose. As a result, we tend to prioritize our worldly wealth over our eternal life.

If we have our basic needs met, we must be content and trust that the blessing of God provides all we need.

Being successful in God’s sight means that we’re rich in faith, humility, and obedience to God’s law, rather than being someone with huge success in financial terms.

22.) Matthew 16:26

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”

This passage about success in the Bible reminds us that real success isn’t about gaining the world at the expense of our souls. Most of us would pursue material wealth, power, and prestige. What we don’t realize is that these are just temporary.

Instead, we need to prioritize our deep relationship with Him. We must live in God’s purpose and not chase worldly wealth. God taught us that ultimate success is about storing our treasures in heaven, and not in this world.

It encourages us to reflect on our ambitions. We must chase true prosperity by aligning our lives with God’s plans and not at the expense of our faith. We have to choose our faith over our temporary riches.

23.) Proverbs 22:4

“Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.”

Most of us believe that being successful is about climbing the financial and social ladder. However, God teaches us that true riches come from humility and reverence for God.

We need to be a faithful servant by understanding that God’s favor is more valuable than personal gain. We must live humbly and trust in his plan to receive good success that’s far greater than financial wealth.

Living in God’s Will

These verses taught us one thing. That is, true success in the Bible is about living in His will with faith and contentment. We shouldn’t be chasing after personal gain.  If we do that, then we can live a life filled with joy, peace, and eternal rewards.
