Revelation 20:4 has the longest verse as it describes a complex scene. It contrasts the brevity of John 11:35 which only states, “Jesus wept.”
The King James Version of the Bible was finalized in 1611. It cemented this structure. However, the first Bible manuscripts didn’t have these divisions.
